Description:
Nike is hiring a Software Engineer I for its Data, Analytics, and Intelligence (DAI) division at the India Technology Center in Bangalore. Positioned within an advanced engineering environment, this role focuses on designing, delivering, and scaling production-grade AI/ML infrastructure and smart automation services across Nike’s global ecosystem. You will move past theoretical algorithms to build real-world internal tools, software development kits (SDKs), high-performance backend APIs, and agentic LLM (Large Language Model) application workflows. The position combines strong algorithmic problem-solving with cloud engineering—demanding execution across automated testing loops, microservice telemetry, container deployments, and zero-trust identity layers.
Key Technologies:
Python, AWS, Postgres, Redis, Docker, GitOps, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), OpenTelemetry (OTEL), Splunk, React, Streamlit
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree (B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc) in Computer Science, or equivalent validated practical software engineering experience.
- 1+ years of professional software engineering experience with a proven capability to write robust, testable, maintainable, and extendable enterprise logic strictly in Python.
- Functional aptitude or experience building scalable AI microservices, orchestrating LLM integrations, and implementing intelligent agentic workflow blocks.
- Hands-on operational experience inside Amazon Web Services (AWS) frameworks, coupled with a practical understanding of large-scale distributed cloud application development.
- Foundational familiarity or exposure to front-end web languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript) and modern UI frameworks—specifically constructing data interfaces via React or rapid-prototyping environments using Streamlit.
- Clear operational understanding of relational database engines (PostgreSQL), in-memory data structures/caching components (Redis), and foundational data modeling paradigms.
- Working knowledge of declarative infrastructure provisioning (IaC), automated GitOps deployment loops, CI/CD code release flows, and modern dependency managers like uv.
- Practical familiarity containerizing application components using Docker, tracking telemetry through industry instrumentation standards like OpenTelemetry (OTEL), and searching logs via Splunk.
- General awareness of corporate single sign-on (SSO) protocols, identity federation, and authentication standards, including OAuth, OIDC, or Okta.
- Familiarity operating within Agile frameworks and applying Test-Driven Development (TDD) habits, including active participation in peer code review cycles.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, high intellectual curiosity, strong analytical problem-solving patterns, and a collaborative team mindset.
